Planted some tomatoes and peppers

While I was the Farmers’ Market Store on Sunday, I picked up some tomato and pepper plants.  I went out to the garden today to plant them.  I was surprised at just how dry the soil was.   We watered 3 days ago, but it was a light watering.  Today I sprayed for about 30 minutes. The soil was barely damp an inch down after that. I think we need to come up with a more effective way to water.  And we probably need to consider mulching our plants.

I planted 2 serrano peppers, 2 jalapeno peppers, 4 roma tomato, and 2 Better Boy tomato plants. I think that in addition to the tomatillo and Anaheim peppers that I’m going to get, I will also get a prolific cherry tomato for garden eating!

I got a special compliment on our plot today. Nita was out to do some work on the plantings around the fence.  She said she liked our layout and we were making good use of the space.  To hear that from a landscaper just made my day!
