Our bird friend

Steve and I went out to the plot yesterday afternoon to do a little watering.  We saw the killdeer standing over its clutch of 4 eggs.  This time it didn’t run around or try to draw us away from the nest.  It just stood its ground, even when I was only a few feet from it.  Perhaps it is getting used to having people around?  Various web sites claim that killdeer eat insects and are particularly good at eating pests.  Integrated pest control has never been so easy!

I am really impressed with the creative things people are doing with their plots, particularly with borders around their gardens.
